Effective Planning: Step 4
I have developed goals, mapped my approach, and administered an assessment, now what?
Let’s recap! You developed aligned student goals for learning during the lesson. You strategically determined how students would show their level of mastery of the learning goals. You mapped a successful step by step approach for engaging and providing relevant activities for students to learn the content and skill. You also collected both group and individual data on the learners’ mastery level.
To bring your Master Plan full circle, you need to answer the following questions:
- Which students did not master the material presented? How will I reteach the material? How will I vary the instructional strategies to meet their needs? When will I conduct the reteach session?
- Which students mastered the material presented? Which activities can I offer that will both spiral content and engage them at a higher level? (DOK, Blooms)
Using this process to plan effective instruction consistently, while making it your own, will make time in front of the students easier, more enjoyable, and ultimately more effective!
